About Mia...
![]() Hi, my name is Mia, and my passion is helping people to transform their perceptions so that they can become living inspirations for those around them - for their partners, children, friends, family and co-workers. This is how the world changes, one person at a time.
I am a Transformational Parenting & Mindfulness Coach, an inspirational speaker, an author of inspirational children's books, a mother of two beautiful girls, a wife to a crazy and devoted partner, and a lover of life. I have been featured in numerous television, radio and magazine interviews for my alternative approach to parenting and life. I coach parents from all over the world via Skype. I am trained both in traditional therapy, with a BA in Psychology and a certification in Trauma Counselling, and in various alternative therapies including Neuro Linguistic Programming, Life Coaching, Hypnotherapy, Stress Biofeedback, Time Paradigm Techniques and The Demartini Method. I use a combination of methods in my practice to effect instant and lasting change in my clients - the kind of change that completely transforms your life and has you living out your dreams. I love my work, I love my life, and I wish nothing less for you, my client. Welcome to my wonderful world! |
"I would like to thank Mia from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful experience of coaching with her. Initially I thought it that I might have an insight or two - mainly I thought I have done all the 'real' work I needed to do with all the courses, shrinks, guru's, friends' shoulders, my pillow...you get the picture... Nothing prepared me for what I experienced! I have really shifted some very imported issues, and I mean really important! I feel lighter than I ever have. Mia has a real gift for getting to the core issue, she does not rest until all the issues have been brought to light. You have literally saved my life Mia - Thank you! To everyone out there - this is the only gift you should be giving yourself!" - Dedre G, Johannesburg |
More About My Journey...
When I first became a parent I was terrified. Here was this little alien that arrived in my arms that I had no idea how to care for. I didn’t understand its language or have experience in its culture, or know what its basic needs were or how to tend to them. I felt like I had been dumped on Mars and told to just survive. No map. No compass. No support.
And the manuals that I found scattered around (aka parenting books) all gave different advice; sometime completely conflicting advice; sometimes similar enough to seem the same but just different enough to be confusing.
I panicked. I had been booted so far out of my comfort zone that I couldn’t even find an edge of it to grab on to. I was flailing around in deep space and I could not see the light. Anywhere. At the end of the tunnel? What tunnel?
As I have learned over the years, it is our greatest voids that create our greatest values. And this parenting void sent me into self-development overdrive. I knew that to solve this parenting dilemma I needed to solve all the greatest questions out there. Who are we? Why are we here? Why is it so damn difficult? Why do we feel so desperate and alone and afraid? Is there such a thing as happiness?
My children became my Zen Masters. For those of you who don’t know about Zen Masters, they’re the ones who sneak up behind you and beat you with a big stick or throw you out of the window when you’re not fully present. My kids have kept me present and growing and finding my space feet. They’ve also taught me to trust in myself and to use the parenting books for what they’re good for – as steps to reach the more inspiring books on the top shelf.
My mission, as I’ve grown, is to help other parents to do the same. To assist them in trusting themselves, in shedding unnecessary baggage, social idealisms, guilt and shame, so that they can live truly inspired lives – not just as parents, but as the incredible human beings that they are. To help them to see that their children are already whole and perfect and beautiful and intelligent and inspired, and that it is only in our limited vision that we see them as otherwise.
Once we as parents live our highest vision for ourselves, we open up our vision to see that our children are already living theirs. When we stop subordinating to other people’s dreams and ideas and visions and rules and live our own, then we free our children up to do the same. When we find our truth and walk our path, then we inspire everyone – our children, partners, friends and colleagues – to find their purpose and step up to being who they were truly meant to be.
My mission is to keep working with me. To solve those greater questions of life, death, love and purpose, and to share this journey with as many people as are ready for this ultimate ride into outer orbit. My mission is to be the change that I’d like to see in my kids and in the world. If you’re ready to take that giant leap for parent-kind, then you’ve come to the right place.
